Sunday at Noon - Level One Hatha Yoga

3.20.11  Celebrate the Spring Equinox

The Spring Equinox is the exact midpoint betrween winter and summer solstices.  Starting at sundown, there begins a cycle of 12 hours night and 12 hours daylight.  This is a time of huge energy!  Nature is waking up after its long sleep.  Everywhere you look there is evidence of new life. Trees are in bud, seeds are germinating, and animals are preparing to bear their young.  Think of spring cleaning in your home, your body, your diet.  Clear off all the stale and old energy of the winter to make room for the positivity and new life for spring.  Join in a purification of the Self.  Spring is here!

A Poem by Emily Dickinson

A light exists in spring
Not present in the year
At any other period -
When March is scarcely here.

A color stands abroad
On solitary fields
That science cannot overtake
But Human Nature feels.

It waits upon the lawn
It shows upon the furthest tree
Upon the furthest slope you know
It almost speaks to you.

Then, as horizons step
Or noons report away
Without the formula of sound
Its passes and we stay -

A quality of loss
Affecting our content
As trade had suddenly encroached
Upon a sacrament.
